The Volvo Ocean Race is often described as the longest and toughest professional sporting event in the world, sailing’s toughest team challenge and one of the sport’s Big Three events, alongside the Olympics and America’s Cup.
Education Perfect is proud to be associated with one of the competitors, Team Sun Hung Kai - Scallywag, and to announce our own EP Volvo Ocean Race Challenge to coincide with this global sporting event. We invite students of all ages to take part for free!
We have selected lessons that relate to the science and maths behind sailing, as well as lessons relating to the core Sustainability Programme of the Volvo Ocean Race. You will find them grouped together in a folder labelled "Volvo Ocean Race" in Maths and Science on EP.
How does the EP Volvo Ocean Race Challenge work?
Students earn points by completing questions in Maths and Science, including (but not limited to) the EP Volvo Ocean Race Challenge folder contained in each subject. The competition is open from the 8-18th of March.
What are the prizes?
In addition to all of the amazing lessons on Education Perfect, the Volvo Ocean Race has an excellent collection of Information Booklets and Worksheets for students aged 6-12 years. These resources focus on the problem of Ocean Plastic Pollution.
You can check out the lessons here.
There is an action-packed Race Village set up for the event that opens on 24th February, with free entry and a variety of activities for people of all ages. If you are in the Auckland area, check it out!
